A few ways we used our pre-Christmas break days . . .

Just a post-church picture of the little girls. Nicole stayed home sick, and boys had already changed their clothes. Maybe next year I can get one of everyone before church since we will have the later start time.
We had a surprise visit from Santa on Christmas eve!!
He even had early Christmas presents for the kids.
We had tried to set Amber on his lap but she would have nothing to do with him.

and one with Nicole who didn't much feel like leaving the couch--poor girl (we took her in the day after Christmas and turns out she had pneumonia!)

Ready to dive in
In true toddler style Amber found some candy she liked and devoured all in sight. In this case it was the peanut butter m&m's.
Once she finished all her M&M's she was ready to play

Brett spent most of Christmas morning playing with his truck set that he could build himself.
Amber loved her grocery cart!

There was this book Nicole had shown me in November on Amazon that she really wanted. It was a little too much, but we might have been able to get it for her. Then when she looked it up in December it was crazy out of the question to buy it anymore. It had gone up to several hundreds of dollars. I got to work and found it on e-bay, but from a German book store for 20 shipping included. Curt was skeptical it would come, but thankfully it arrived on December 23. She was totally not expecting it, and in first picture is very confused by the German writing on the cover of the packaging.
I would pay 20 dollars again just to see her this surprised!
Amber and Brett got brooms because they are always trying to take the big one away from me when I sweep. Brett can hold his own with a broom. We'll just make that his lifetime chore assignment.
