April 26, 2008--New Brighton Beach. . . Again!!
This is Isaac's David Hasselhoff impression.
Nicole got in on the Baywatch reinactments--running along the surf.
Ryan would giggle when a wave would splash him.
Isaac catching a wave with Dad.
Nicole's turn on the boogie board.

Isaac and Dad made a fish and a Lightning McQueen car out of sand. Thanks to a large wave and Ryan, the Lightning McQueen car didn't last long.
We had friends to play with again! (Nicole and Jocey) Glad you could come Cherisse!!
April 12, 07 --New Brighton Beach
87 degrees at the beach today! It was the perfect beach day. We had several friends come with us, and today was the first time I got to swim. Pretty cold water, although I've swam in colder (runoff from Mt. Raineir in Washington--our lips were purple for quite some time after that one!) No purple lips today, just lots of sand and great memories!
Nicole was SOO happy to have a girlfriend to play with!

I like this picture because it looks like Ryan is explaining and showing me how to hold a football. :)
Nicole and her good friend Lorien spent some time root jumping. :)
Notice the two different kinds of seaweed? COOL!!!

Curt had to drag Isaac away when it was time to go home. We took Highway 1 home (a little longer, but more scenic) due to an accident closing the other road. The kids were very excited to see the sun set. We pulled over to watch the last few minutes--the kids as well as Curt and I were all in awe!

OUR TRIP TO PALM SPRINGS
Grandpa and Grandma Salisbury invited us to Palm Springs to spend a few days with them. My only association with Palm Springs was Bugs Bunny (see below it's a classic.) We found some cheap tickets and were on our way!Bugs and Daffy set out for a vacation in Palm Springs (traveling via Bugs' underground burrowing.) Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck arrive in the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal ("I told you to turn west at East St. Louis!", quacks Daffy). Daffy is ready to head back , but he and Daffy meet Hugo the Abominable Snowman. Hugo wants to hug them and pet them and hold them and squeeze them and name them George. (Bugs Bunny) I shoulda toined left at Albekoikee!

Pickles are a girls best friend
Here's what happened for those of you who don't want to read all the details. Nicole lost her first tooth tonight while biting into a pickle!!The rest of the story . . . For quite some time now Nicole has been a little concerned that she has not lost a tooth yet, as most of her classmates and friends have. She hasn't even had a tooth wiggle the slightest bit. Tonight while we were eating dinner, Nicole bit into a pickle. I looked over at her and she had a frightened look on her face. (Later she told me she heard a crraaaaaack when she bit into the pickle--she then ran her tongue over her bottom teeth and felt the hole.) It was at this point that we all saw the tooth fall to the table. I let out a small excited scream--although I think she may have taken it for a scared scream--and Nicole put her finger to her mouth and saw the blood. Her lip started quivering and she was in shock for a minute and wanted me to hold her. We made a big deal about it and helped her feel better and excited about it. She was fine after a few minutes. Just very suprised. We had ice cream to celebrate and she was excited to give it to the tooth fairy in hopes of earning some more money for a book she is saving up for from her scholastic book order.
I think Isaac was more traumatized than Nicole. He just sat there staring at her for probably 10 minutes. Didn't even eat much of his dinner. After the excitement wore off, I told Nicole it was o.k. she could still eat etc., and Isaac said "But at least her legs still work!" Nicole and Isaac were asking many questions the rest of the night about the toothfairy, her size, why do we have to put it under our pillow, how does he/she know that she lost a tooth, is the toothfairy a girl or a boy, what the toothfairy brings, and all that fun stuff. Isaac really wanted to see the tooth fairy and kept asking "when is that fairy lady going to come?" When Nicole went to bed she asked me if she would be able to see her new tooth in the morning. I told her that it would take a little longer than that, and that teeth didn't grow that fast. It seems like children do though, I can't believe she is six and missing a tooth!!
