Pickles are a girls best friend

Here's what happened for those of you who don't want to read all the details. Nicole lost her first tooth tonight while biting into a pickle!!
The rest of the story . . . For quite some time now Nicole has been a little concerned that she has not lost a tooth yet, as most of her classmates and friends have. She hasn't even had a tooth wiggle the slightest bit. Tonight while we were eating dinner, Nicole bit into a pickle. I looked over at her and she had a frightened look on her face. (Later she told me she heard a crraaaaaack when she bit into the pickle--she then ran her tongue over her bottom teeth and felt the hole.) It was at this point that we all saw the tooth fall to the table. I let out a small excited scream--although I think she may have taken it for a scared scream--and Nicole put her finger to her mouth and saw the blood. Her lip started quivering and she was in shock for a minute and wanted me to hold her. We made a big deal about it and helped her feel better and excited about it. She was fine after a few minutes. Just very suprised. We had ice cream to celebrate and she was excited to give it to the tooth fairy in hopes of earning some more money for a book she is saving up for from her scholastic book order.
I think Isaac was more traumatized than Nicole. He just sat there staring at her for probably 10 minutes. Didn't even eat much of his dinner. After the excitement wore off, I told Nicole it was o.k. she could still eat etc., and Isaac said "But at least her legs still work!" Nicole and Isaac were asking many questions the rest of the night about the toothfairy, her size, why do we have to put it under our pillow, how does he/she know that she lost a tooth, is the toothfairy a girl or a boy, what the toothfairy brings, and all that fun stuff. Isaac really wanted to see the tooth fairy and kept asking "when is that fairy lady going to come?" When Nicole went to bed she asked me if she would be able to see her new tooth in the morning. I told her that it would take a little longer than that, and that teeth didn't grow that fast. It seems like children do though, I can't believe she is six and missing a tooth!!
