We felt especially safe this year with our little superhero's around!! Just warning you--lots of pictures, maybe I should have made a slide show . . . too late now.

GRANDMA COMES TO VISIT
Grandma came late Thursday night, watched the kids all day Friday, overnight and Saturday morning, so that Curt and I could steal away for a much needed together time! Thanks so much Jan, it was a wonderful birthday present!!




AAAHHH, SO SWEET--The kids were eating their sandwiches after church, Curt was relaxing on the couch with his guitar. After a few minutes of eating, Ryan gets down from the table taking his plate with him, sits as close as he can to Curt, leans over on him, and continues to eat his sandwich.






CONSERVATORY OF FLOWERS . . . AGAIN!

We drove into SF to see a really cool art exhibit, stood in line (with all three kids) only to be told the tickets we would be buying would get us into the exhibit at 3pm (it was 10am!) We then went to plan B which was to go see the butterflies which Nicole has been begging to do since she missed out the first time, at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. Sorry, more butterfly pictures!

The picture below makes me laugh. If you'll notice in the background Curt is almost to the car, Ryan wants to be with Daddy, and is following close behind, but is concerned that Nicole, Isaac and I are not with them. Curt says we are complete opposites in this facet of our personalities. I stop to smell too many flowers (and take too many pictures) and he doesn't stop to smell enough, or any. Hopefully we are helping each other meet somewhere in the middle!



ROCKETS, FIGHTER JETS, AND CANDY OH MY

We got Isaac a model rocket with a solid fuel engine that goes 1000 feet into the air for his birthday. He's hooked. The one on one time with Dad, decorating it, putting it together and blasting it into the air might add to it's appeal. After several launches on a particularly windy day, his rocket set a record for heighth and distance, never to be found. One heartbroken kid, and a new rocketship later, the first thing Isaac did was put his name and phone number on his new rocket with stickers. We've still got it!
His other new obsession is fighter jets. He got to see the Blue Angels perform this last month. Now, when the kids get an opportunity to watch something he is always begging for fighter jet documentaries. When he does get to watch one, he is telling us how much he loves to watch the fighter jets for the next few days.
Candy. Well he's always been obsessed with candy, and thanks to Halloween . . . need I say more?

CALLING ALL GOOD IDEAS!

Yet another reason to love Google.  They are doing an on-line American Inventors.  All you have to have is a good idea :).  I already submitted one.  It is your patriotic duty to submit at least one idea. Watch the video and then go here to submit your idea(s)!

Happy Birthday Isaac!!!

Isaac turned 4 yesterday, September 10. All he wanted was balloons, and a race car cake. We had a really hard time getting ideas from him as far as presents are concerned. Curt came up with a rocket launcher and that took the cake!! When he woke up to find balloons and streamers in our living room he was jumping around on our couch exclaiming how much he liked it, and all day he kept saying "Today's my lucky day!!" Did we even need presents? He's been such a joy, and tons of fun. We are so grateful to have our sweet Isaac in our family!

2 Beach Days in 1 week--Gotta love California!

We've had quite a warm spell, and another 85 degrees at the beach couldn't be passed up! Our friends the Shemwells invited us to their favorite beach to play. We all had a great time. There were tons of treasures to collect (lots of seashells, beach glass, and neato rocks) so a few of us spent a lot of time doing that (need I name names?) Curt even got in on the treasure hunting a little too. He also boogie boarded quite a bit (have you ever seen anyone boogie board on their back!!) , and thanks to Jenny, he and I got to go out together in the deeper water on the boards. Another great day!!











Curt had to go into school on Labor Day, so we called a friend and headed to the beach! The waves were perfect for the kids and they all braved going into the deeper water with me. Thanks for a fun day Brenley, Jorgen and Shelley!

First Day of First Grade

Nicole left this morning (the second day of school) chanting she loved Ms Yama, so I guess that's a good sign she likes her class! The pictures are from her first day.

Curt's hooked!!--more old news

I just wanted to add a little more about Curt's race. This was actually his second. He ran his first in June. Not only was it his first race but a 10k trail run with a 1,500 elevation change throughout the course!! His second was about the same. After his first race he said he wanted to do one once a month!! Yeah, I have a built in running partner now!! He says he enjoys the hills, right now I'm taking his word for it. He thinks I should try a trail run, and I want him to try a regular road race. I'll let you know how that goes . . .Anyway, GREAT JOB CURT!!

* Special thanks to a really nice lady with extra rechargeable camera batteries. I had remembered to charge ours the night before but not to grab them at 7am when we left the next morning. If you know how much I like to take pictures (second only to my sister Sabrina) then you can imagine what I was kicking myself about the whole time Curt was running. Towards the end of the race when runners started coming in I got up the nerve to ask a lady if she had any extra batteries. From now on if I remember to bring the batteries, I'm bringing extra so I can help a pour battery-less soul in need.
